. Discover the latest reveal of unseen images from the Magnum color library archive tracing life in the Nordic countries from the 1960s-80s, featuring Chris Steele-Perkins, Erich Hartmann, Ian Berry and more. In 1947, following the aftermath of the Second World War, four pioneering photographers founded a now legendary alliance. First as a Nominee, then as an Associate, and finally as a full Member. Jun 29, 2025 ยท Beginning with Burt Glinn and Inge Morath in 1958, these photographs retrace the steps of Magnum photographers who documented the country’s changing social fabric. They created Magnum in 1947 to reflect their independent natures as both people and photographers – the idiosyncratic mix of reporter and artist that continues to define Magnum, emphasizing not only what is seen but also the way one sees it. For more than 70 years Magnum has been creating the highest quality photographic content for an international client base of media, charities, publishers, brands and cultural institutions. The Magnum library is also a living archive updated regularly with new work from across the globe. Our first stop is Europe, home of the color library archive, and the journey begins in March with a focus on Czechia. Since its founding in 1947 by Robert Capa, Henri Cartier-Bresson, George Rodger and David ‘Chim’ Seymour, Magnum Photos – the legendary co-operative – has powerfully chronicled the peoples, cultures, events and issues of the time.
